Story Synopsis:
John Woo ("Bullet In The Head," "Face/Off") directs this sci-fi action thriller based on a story written by Philip K. Dick ("Blade Runner"). No sooner does engineer Michael Jennings (Affleck) invent high-tech and top-secret projects does his company, Nexim, have his short-term memory erased. But when he tries to collect his Paycheck at the end of a three-year contract, he is ultimtely betrayed for the billions of dollars he is owed by a long-time friend. With nowhere else to turn, he receives a mysterious envelope with clues to his forgotten past, which seems to be his only hope in putting together the pieces of his life. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.40:1 DVD picture has a slick appearance, with clean, nicely saturated colors, well-balanced fleshtones, and deep blacks. Images are sharp and detailed, with very well-defined textures, and excellent contrast and shadow delineation. The source element is clean, though a few flecks of dirt are noticed. The only complaint is in regard to the appearance of edge enhancement, though the distraction is not always present. The picture is smooth, with very little pixel breakup noticed. (Suzanne Hodges)
