  WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
"Live At Donington" is a gig that no AC/DC fan will want to miss! If you missed this concert in August of 1991, this DVD shows it all! Literally sharing the stage with

DVD Picture:
While not likely to deter fans of AC/DC, the anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD picture exhibits downright ugly and unimpressive images sourced from many different cameras set throughout the concert venue. The jacket boasts that the show was filmed in 35mm Panavision and that a new "Panavision film transfer" was performed for the DVD. Both claims seem questionable as this looks more like 16mm and sourced from a release print. The crowd is often a waving sea of muddy colors, while shots of the band onstage are rarely sharp or detailed. Colors lack natural saturation and exhibit weak, undefined blacks. There is plenty of source-related dirt and scratches. The DVD, however, is virtually free from annoying pixelization. While much of what makes this picture a poor candidate for home theatre exhibition is related to the source elements, fans of the band will be thunderstruck. (Suzanne Hodges)
