DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced, windowboxed/pillarboxed 1.66:1 DVD, as would be expected, exhibits a colorful picture. All hues are richly saturated and pop from the screen. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent dimension. In a minor nitpick, there is occasional and minor ringing noticed around images, but nothing that is really distracting. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The 5.1-channel audio presentations exhibit good fidelity, a natural tonality to the dialogue, very nice soundstaging (especially across the front screen channels), and is substantial even with a 6 dB dialnorm offset. Both surround channels add really nice atmosphere to the production as minor ambient details like the sound of crickets chirping, and the wind rustling thru the brush, give off a sense that we are in the same outside environment with the onscreen animated characters. The LFE channel is used effectively for emphasis, albeit somewhat sparingly, throughout. The Dolby
