Story Synopsis:
New York City, 2022. Food is in short supply. The Soylent Company is the manufacturer of nutritional synthetics such as Soylent Blue, Soylent Yellow, and Soylent Green. When William Simonson (Cotten), a rich executive in the Soylent Company is found murdered, Detective Thorn (Heston) begins investigating his death. His discovery leads him to the horrible truth behind the key ingredients found in the green delicacies. Based on a novel by Harry Harrison. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a picture with subtle dated characteristics such as a brownish tinge in the color scheme, affecting whites and fleshtones. Some of the brighter colors appear to bleed slightly, but much of the picture seems a bit subdued. Images are generally sharp, and contrast and shadow delineation are satisfying, though some scenes can be a bit soft. The source element is revealing of plenty of dirt and some film grain. Distractions, however, are minor regarding edge enhancement and pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
