Story Synopsis:
After military leader Sgt. Nathan West (Jackson) disappears during a "Basic" training exercise in Panama and four of his six men turn up dead, the army wants answers. Col. Bill Styles (Daly) recruits DEA agent Tom Hardy (Travolta) to assist Capt. Julia Osborne (Nielsen) in the interrogation of the two survivors in hopes of discovering where the Sgt. is and how the other men were killed. But the two men have very different versions of the happenings out there in the jungle, and it's up to Hardy and Osborne to figure out which one isn't telling the truth... and why. (Tricia Littrell)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced DVD - framed at 2.40:1 - exhibits a picture that can be nicely detailed, though some scenes are noticeably soft or slightly smeared. Viewing in a completely blackened room is recommended for optimal visual information in the many dim scenes. Contrast can seem a bit low at times, but shadow delineation is excellent and colors pop from the night scenes. Lots of blues are used in the color palette, and hues are rich and fully saturated, with accurate fleshtones and deep blacks. Pixelization is occasionally noticed, but edge enhancement is rarely a problem. (Suzanne Hodges)
