Story Synopsis:

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD exhibits a picture that is quite satisfying for the subject matter, with stylizations that visually separate the 100-year-old story via black-and-white and desaturated images from the warmer, more fully balanced color scheme of the main plot. The picture can be a bit soft at times, but details at other times can be exquisitely rendered. Pixelization creates a digital distraction at times, but there is little in the way of edge enhancement. The source element is often revealing of film grain that gives the picture a gritty texture.
