Story Synopsis:
"White Oleander" tells the story of a young girl and her troubled journey through life. After her mother Ingrid (Pfeiffer) is sent to prison for murdering her boyfriend, Astrid (Lohman) is shuffled first from one foster home straight to another, while trying her best to break free from her mother
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits images that are sharp and nicely detailed, with pleasing contrast and shadow delineation. The picture sometimes has a slightly soft appearance for mood. Colors are organic and well balanced, with accurate fleshtones and deep blacks. At times the picture has a gritty texture, but otherwise is quite smooth and solid. Occasionally, edge enhancement can be offensive, and some finer details break up from pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 5.1-channel audio presentation is quite quiescent in nature. The recording quality is outstanding, particularly with respect to Thomas Newman
