Story Synopsis:
Based on a true story, Harrelson stars as sex industry entrepreneur Larry Flynt, who leveraged a small string of Ohio strip clubs into the beginnings of a publishing empire. His first Hustler issue was a financial disaster, but the subsequent issue, featuring Jacqueline Onassis sunbathing nude, brought him success. Settling into a 24-room mansion with his ex-stripper wife Althea (Love), Flynt was on top of the world
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced DVD exhibits a picture that appears to be the same transfer as the previously released DVD (reviewed in Issue 28). While that DVD was compared to the LaserDisc and hailed as reference quality at the time, the picture does not hold up to today
Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio has been nicely produced, with a tasteful sense of envelopment from the music, which satisfyingly immerses. There's also occasionally noticeable low-end content with some LFE channel activity. Fidelity sounds a little dated, slightly affecting the natural tonality of voices. The surrounds are remarkably active and vibrant in the presence of the music, and usually are subtly present otherwise. In the absence of the music, the soundstaging often is centered around the dialogue.
