Story Synopsis:
Based on the novel by Anne Richardson Roiphe, Up The Sandbox follows the attempts of Margaret Reynolds (Streisand) to tell her husband that she is pregnant with another child. Normally a joyous occasion for a married couple, she and Paul (Selby) are clearly growing apart, and the neglected Margaret avoids the confrontation by escaping into bizarre fantasies and daydreams. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits a picture that has dated characteristics, but with color fidelity that can be quite natural. Hues are nicely saturated, with accurate fleshtones and generally deep blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed, though some scenes can be softly focused. The source element is revealing of some minor film grain and occasional flecks of dirt. There is some minor smearing and pixel breakup noticed, and edge enhancement is minimal. (Suzanne Hodges)
