DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD offers a picture that is visually complementary for the period of the film. The interiors of the castle are dark, lit only by candlelight or through windows. Images are sharp and with satisfying detail and definition. While colors seem to be well-balanced with accurate fleshtones, blacks appear just shy of full saturation. Edge enhancement can be quite offensive, but there is little in the way of pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
