Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis ("Less Than Zero"), "The Rules Of Attraction" mostly follows three Camden College students on their amoral and sexual escapades. Sean Bateman (Van Der Beek) finds himself a drug dealer to help pay off his debts, while looking forward to letters from a secret admirer with hopes that she is Lauren Hynde (Sossamon). While Hynde is marginally attracted to Sean, someone else has a crush on him...the bisexual Paul (Somerhalder). (Suzanne Hodges)
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits a picture that is sharp and nicely detailed, with well-balanced contrast and shadow delineation. Colors are rich and vibrant, with accurately rendered fleshtones, bold hues, and deep, solid blacks. Edge enhancement and pixelization are rarely a problem with this title, and the result is a fairly clean, solid picture. Some minor dirt is noticed from the source element. (Suzanne Hodges)
Reason #6 Why Readers Love Widescreen Review:
I read WSR for a couple of reasons. First, I work in the electronics industry, and it is essential to have great demo material when presenting a product. It would be impossible to buy every DVD out there to find out what looks and sounds good in the DVD world. Second, electronics is my passion. I am constantly looking for any new information on software and hardware. WSR is a great source of information on both hardware and software.
