Story Synopsis:
While the box office has not been good to actor-comedian Martin Lawrence in the past few years, his fans still adore him as a foul-mouthed comedian (proven by the packed house on the night of this 2002 performance at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC). Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat tells the stories behind some of his more troubling run-ins with the police, the media, his health, and the movie industry, with interspersed behind-the-scenes documentary footage. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD offers a picture that is quite suitable for the live stand-up comedy performance. Despite generally pleasing sharpness and detail, focus can sometimes appear a bit soft. Colors are richly saturated, and fleshtones appear natural. When the stage lighting fades out, blacks are extremely deep and solid. Shots of the audience appear undefined and plugged-up. Some minor dirt is occasionally detected. Neither pixelization or edge enhancement are a problem with this title. The incorporated documentary footage is presented in black-and-white. (Suzanne Hodges)
Soundtrack:
The Dolby Digital 5.1-channel soundtrack has been well-recorded. The concert itself features moderate, yet nicely immersive surround sound from the crowd ambience. Martin Lawrence
