DVD Picture:
The 1.66:1 black-and-white image is not anamorphically enhanced for this DVD, and are rather soft and undefined. Still, close-up shots of the actors can be nicely rendered. The gray scale is generally well balanced, offering satisfying contrast. The picture has a slight vertical jump that is noticeable at times, and aliasing problems create minor shimmering. The source element is generally clean for its age, but is revealing of its fair share of artifacts, scratches, and film grain. There is little pixelization or edge enhancement to worry about.
