Story Synopsis:
"War And Peace" is the epic tale of Napoleon
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits a picture that does not hide its age very well. Overall, the picture is quite soft and wanting in finer definition, though costumes and sets can be appreciated. Colors can be nicely saturated, with bright yellows, blues, and reds, but fleshtones tend to err toward browns or orange, and blacks are undefined and slightly weak. The source element is revealing of flecks of dirt and minor scratches. Brightness flickers subtly throughout, but is most noticeable in brighter scenes with busy details like wallpaper or costumes. Edge enhancement is occasionally noticed, and there is some image breakup caused by pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)
