DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a picture that offers expectedly dark night scenes, but the many day scenes are generally well rendered. Shadow delineation is suitable for the night battles with the vampires, but viewing in a completely blackened room is recommended. The picture is generally sharp, but finer details can be lacking. The color scheme is nicely balanced, with lots of brown hues, generally accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. The picture has a bit of texture provided by some fine film grain. Edge enhancement and pixelization are noticed, giving the picture an unnatural, digital quality. (Suzanne Hodges)A modified 1.33:1 version (not reviewed) is included on the disc's flip side.
