DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD exhibits a satisfying picture, with images that are sharp and detailed. Colors are rich and warm, with nicely balanced fleshtones and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow delineation are nicely rendered. There is some minor edge enhancement noticed, and even occasional aliasing problems, but little pixelization. (Suzanne Hodges)

The 5.1-channel audio presentations are compelling in terms of the use of dimension to project wide, enveloping sonic images from the music and atmospheric effects. The music is a fine recording, occasionally with a full-bodied low end presence and selective .1 LFE channel engagement. The spatial presence of ambient sound effects subtly and sometimes prominently wrap around the listener, resulting in a convincing sense of unsettling suspense. The split surrounds can also figure prominently in terms of pinpoint directionality, such as in Chapter 10. Another contributing factor to this fine sonic presentation is the fidelity, which is quite reflective of the current state-of-the-art. The dialogue, which tends to predominate for many of the scenes, sounds slightly forward in the mix, but otherwise exhibits a remarkably natural tonal character. The DTS
