  WSR Narrative Review
Special Notes:
Also available in a two-disc movie-only version ($39.95).

Story Synopsis:
Ernest Shackleton (Branagh), the legendary explorer of Antarctica, is featured in this two-part A&E original movie. Based on Shackleton

DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVD exhibits mediocre image quality with colors that lack full saturation. Considering that this is a period piece, some stylistic decisions regarding color were made by the filmmakers. Granted, there will not be a variety of color on Antarctica, and while some hues appear natural, others appear washed out. Blacks lack true depth. Contrast seems a bit low. There are numerous artifacts noticed, and a bothersome amount of pixelization, shimmering details, and edge enhancement. (Suzanne Hodges)

Soundtrack:
The Dolby
