NEW FLANGELESS SPEAKERS FROM SPEAKERCRAFT

By Gary Reber

SpeakerCraft, America’s original manufacturer of in-wall speakers announced a line of flangeless loudspeakers for both in-wall and in-ceiling applications. The Profile series takes advantage of audio technology made famous in the AIM and CRS series while doing so with a completely fresh aesthetic.

Using neodymium magnets to attach the grille, the speakers install just as simply and easily as the current SpeakerCraft product. This also means using a large enough lip to cover mistakes in cutting the drywall. However, once the grille is in place there is no visible flange. This means the installer does not need to adjust to closer tolerances or change his current installation procedure to achieve the new look.  The Profile series saves a great amount of time in the painting process since the grille can be easily removed to paint and there is no flange to paint on the speaker itself.

“Profile is the best-looking line of speakers we’ve ever created.” Said Jeremy Burkhardt, the company’s President. “They barely even look like speakers.  They look more like shadows and that’s if you notice them at all, which no one probably will unless
they’re just insatiably curious about where all that great sound is coming from.”

The Profile series has launched with eight of SpeakerCraft’s most popular models in both round and rectangular versions. Those models are AIM8 One, AIM7 Two, AIM5 One, CRS8 One, CRS6 One, CRS3, AIM LCR One and AIM LCR3 Three. The driver compliments match the corresponding flanged models and will have identical performance characteristics. Prior to CEDIA they will be shipping an additional 14 models with plans to ship the majority of their core product in the Profile form by end of fourth quarter.

SpeakerCraft, established in 1976, devoted itself for more than a decade to the design and development of architectural loudspeakers and became known as the prime OEM for many well-known, in-wall speaker brands in the field.  In marketing its own brand, now one of the
widest lines of architectural speakers and electronics in the industry, SpeakerCraft brings with it years of experience and a dedication to dealer satisfaction.
