 Mamma Mia!, the film that sunk the Titanic as the U.K.'s top grossing box office film of all time, is singing and dancing its way to a home theatre near you. On December 16th Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release the box office sensation in a single-disc dvd, two-disc special edition dvd set, and single Blu-ray Disc™. If you ever wondered what it would be like to watch Oscar®-winning actress Meryll Streep sing and dance to Abba tunes, then here is your golden opportunity. I, myself, really wanted to hate this movie, if not for the cheesiness alone, but I have to admit Ms. Streep did not disappoint, and with the aid of a stellar supporting cast, this film is really pretty good. If you happen to be British or European, you might even say this is a really great movie, as it has been better received than Universal could have possibly wished for throughout the European Union. The high-spirited musical is overflowing with fun in the Grecian sun. The plot centers on a young girl who is to be married soon and wishes to know the identity of her biological father. The young girl, Sophie (Seyfried), is the daughter of Streep's character, Donna, an independently minded single mother and inn-keeper on a Greek island. When young Sophie secretly invites three potential biological dads to her wedding, old memories come flooding back to Donna. The supporting cast includes Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, and the divine Christine Baranski. Loaded with special features, all three versions will include an all-new musical number and a fun-fun-fun sing-along mode. The two-disc DVD and Blu-ray™ versions include a plethora of bonuses, including deleted scenes, outtakes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and a digital copy of the movie. The Blu-ray has BD-Live functionality and other interactive features not available on the DVDs.
