Professional Home Cinema To Unveil New Lower Priced Theater Solutions Targeting Media Room Installations

By Gary Reber

Professional Home Cinema announced it will debut a lower priced home theater solution targeting media room installations in an active display at CEDIA.  Based on its new SCRS-26im and SCRS-6iw “Invisible Mount” loudspeakers, the system provides dynamics and high-output levels commensurate with the company’s larger cinema offerings.

“Our new models provide a high performance solution for multi-purpose and media room environments where the budget is often $40K to $60K for the entertainment system” explains Larry Reagan of Professional Home Cinema.  “PHC is widely known for its systems designed for dedicated theater projects in the $100k to multi-million dollar category.   The new models employ the same professional technologies as our larger systems but address the mid-priced segment of the market, giving dealers a performance oriented alternative that meets the cosmetic demands of a wide audience.”

Engineered for in-wall installations, the SCRS-26im features a frameless designer-friendly motif allowing the speaker to disappear when installed and painted to match its surroundings.  The fully
enclosed design measures only 3.5-inches deep and 14-inches wide to fit a standard 2x4 stud bay. The enclosure includes integrated pick-points and is supplied with mounting hardware, allowing the box to be secured in position during the framing stage of a build out.  A removable speaker baffle allows the dealer to detach and store the drivers for installations where damage or theft may be a concern.

“Ease of installation was a critical component of the product design” says Reagan.  The SCRS-26im ships with a protective cover mounted over the speaker baffle. The cover provides a raised surface against which sheetrock can be trimmed and finished.  Once installed, the cover is removed and the optional grille is attached, providing a clean and unobtrusive installation.

Like other PHC loudspeakers, the Invisible Mount models feature professional-grade drivers sourced from Europe.  The SCRS-26im and smaller SCRS-6iw utilize a wide bandwidth horn-loaded compression driver with a sensitivity of 114dB for high-frequency duties, and a high-output 6.5-inch low frequency unit with a neodymium motor system.  The dual woofer configuration of The
SCRS-26im increases system sensitivity allowing it to achieve a maximum SPL of 121dB.  The SCRS-6iw is an open-baffle design suitable for retrofit applications featuring a single 6.5 inch driver and a maximum output of 115dB.

“Creating products that can cleanly reproduce legitimate cinema reference level at meaningful seating distances was the crux of the design” states Reagan.  “The SCRS-26im can comfortably reproduce 105dB at 4-meters with our DPA-202 power amp” Reagan continues. “And at the lower prices, the SCRS-26im and SCRS-6iw open PHC performance to a whole new audience.”

As with other PHC loudspeakers, the SCRS-26im and SCRS-6iw are designed for use with the company’s digital power amplifiers employing proprietary DSP for loudspeaker crossover functions, high-level frequency response shaping, time alignment, and boundary effect correction.  To learn more about these models and other PHC cinema solutions visit www.professionalhomecinema.com or contact Larry Reagan at 800 272 6085.  PHC will be displaying in Hall C / Sound Room SR-16 at the CEDIA convention.
